The School of Mechanical and Power Engineering of East China University of Science and Technology consists of the Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Power Engineering and Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering. There are three undergraduate majors: Mechanical design, manufacturing and automation, process equipment and control engineering, and intelligent Manufacturing Engineering. Among them, process equipment and control engineering is a national characteristic specialty.
Process Equipment and Control Engineering is a national first-class undergraduate major, and the first of its kind in China to pass the engineering education professional certification. Relying on the two first-level disciplines of mechanical engineering, power engineering and engineering thermophysics, it is jointly run by the Key Laboratory of Pressure Bearing System and Safety of the Ministry of Education and the Engineering Research Center of Green and Efficient Process Equipment and Energy Conservation of the Ministry of Education. Among them, chemical process machinery is one of the first disciplines authorized by the doctoral degree in China, and it is also a national and Shanghai key discipline, and is one of the main leading schools in formulating the professional norms and basic requirements of the national process equipment and control engineering profession.

Graduates are engaged in design and manufacturing, technology development, scientific research and operation management related to process equipment in the fields of chemical industry, petroleum, energy, medicine, metallurgy, light industry, environmental protection, food, refrigeration, machinery and safety.
The major of Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation is a national first-class undergraduate major construction site, and has passed the professional certification of engineering education. With the background of mechanical engineering equipment in process industry and general mechanical engineering equipment in other industries, it studies the design, manufacturing, control, maintenance and management of industrial machinery and equipment. Based on mechanical design and manufacturing, combined with automatic control technology, computer technology and artificial intelligence technology, this major cultivates students' ability to apply advanced design and manufacturing theories and methods to solve complex technical problems in the field of modern mechanical engineering, making students become senior engineering and technical talents engaged in design and manufacturing, scientific and technological development, operation management and other work in the field of mechanical engineering.
